I moderated a panel discussion about opioid addiction for the screening of the new documentary film, Anonymous Sister
Trigger warning for drug addiction and suicide!
———————————————————————
Something I haven’t written much about is that my father was addicted to opioids for the majority of my life and died by suicide due to complications from his addiction. So it was an honor to be asked to moderate the panel discussion for the Columbus screening of the new documentary film, Anonymous Sister, which tells the story of a family’s battle with opioid addiction.
On the panel: the director Jamie Boyle, Trish Perry of Ohio CAN and Newark Homeless Outreach, and Jessica and Kim from The SOAR Initiative. All the organizations mentioned are nonprofits that work in harm reduction. The panel happened after a screening of Anonymous Sister, though it’s a valuable discussion regardless of whether you’ve seen the film yet (it’ll be available for streaming beginning on October 17th).
If you care about harm reduction, want to understand why carrying Narcan is so important, or have been affected by opioid addiction, give this a listen.
