I was interviewed about We Had Mansions in Porter House Review!

Porter House Review has had an astronomical impact on We Had Mansions.

I submitted my really weird, experimental, blended genre Palestine poem, “our people had mansions” to their 2024 annual contest. Kaveh Akbar picked it as the winner. That was my first time winning a poetry contest (after getting close several times, but always falling short), and it gave me the confidence to make that winning poem the titular piece in the collection I was building. Before that, my pile of poems (because it wasn’t even a manuscript yet!) didn’t have a name.

So, without Porter House Review, We Had Mansions would not exist.

That’s why I was extra grateful when they wanted to interview me about the collection. Check it out!

Raven, who interviewed me, was also just incredibly cool. Meeting more rad writers has been such a fun and unexpected part of the We Had Mansions author experience.
