Without childcare support, many parents struggle to work. My latest labor column is out!
With the price of groceries rising, housing costs on the rise, and childcare expenses through the roof, I don’t know how anyone can afford to have a kid these days… Then I started looking into it. andI realized a lot of people can’t.
Since I’m a labor reporter, one of the sneaky ways I write about all kinds of issues I care about is to consider them through the lens of labor, so that’s why I wrote about Ohio Kids First and everything they’re doing to make childcare better, more affordable, higher quality, and more accessible. Of course, parents are more than their labor, but as long as people have to work to take care of themselves and those they love, I’m going to write about the good work being done to further the cause.
