My rage is in a new anthology
I can’t remember exactly when I found Hajar Press, a UK-based small press run by Arab folks that focuses on BIPOC stories, but I immediately ordered several books. I adored Sambac Beneath Unlikely Skies by Heba Hayak and The Stone House by Yara Hawari. Several more Hajar titles are waiting on my shelves for me to read them.
I saw the call for submissions for the Hajar Book of Rage and knew exactly the poem to submit: “the damage has been done.” The anthology is out now, and full of pieces on galvanizing rage. More than a feeling, rage is fuel for change to make a better world.
The Hajar Book of Rage has already received a review in a UK magazine, The Skinny. I’m delighted—or rather, “chuffed,” as the Brits say—that the reviewer mentioned my poem as being “particularly powerful.”
Get the book and let its words inspire you toward positive action. Show up to a protest. Raise money for a mutual aid fund. Give what you can, however you can. Things will only get better if we work together, harnessing our righteous anger into alchemy for a better tomorrow.
