Read my latest poem, "ode to the hare"!

I love writing poems about Palestinian history as a challenge to the notion that Arab world history is “so complicated.” It’s no more complicated than U.S., British, or European history, but those are taught in public school history classes, so people assume they’re more straightforward than they actually are.

Anyway, I wrote a poem called “ode to the hare” about how the British stole Palestinian poppy seeds so they could make opium and other pharmaceuticals that got them rich. The bastards!

Thank goodness for the rabbits who showed them what’s up, and for The Quarry at Split This Rock, a nonprofit social justice poetry platform, for giving this poem a home. Give “ode to the hare” a read!

If you like this poem, you’ll love my collection, We Had Mansions, which will be coming out in April 2025 from Diode Editions. Stay tuned! :)
