The woman preserving Black history at Birmingham's historic Oak Hill Cemetery
It may sound weird to say, but I’m a death nerd––or thanophile, if you want the proper term. I’ve been a fan of The Order of the Good Death for years, so I’m thrilled they published my essay, “Love Lives In This Place.”
It talks about how I overcame my death anxiety with the help of my friend Wilhelmina, who is preserving Black history through her research and tours around Oak Hill Cemetery, Birmingham’s historic cemetery.
