My poem was nominated for Best of the Net!
I just found out that The Journal (the literary magazine at Ohio State University) nominated my poem “the clamshell” for Best of the Net!
Best of the Net is an awards anthology produced by the Sundress Academy for the Arts (the same folks who gave me the microgrant for Palestinian writers and where I’m going on a writers retreat next year!). Every year, Sundress asks lit mag editors to nominate their favorite pieces they published in the previous calendar year. Editors can nominate up to two short stories, two essays, and six poems. The good folks at The Journal chose my poem, “the clamshell,” as one of their six!
Once all the nominations are in, Sundress will choose their favorites from the bunch to create an anthology. This is the first time one of my poems has been nominated, though I’ve been nominated in 2017, 2020, and 2021 for creative nonfiction.
So far, I haven’t made it into the year’s Best of the Net anthology, but maybe this year is my year! Either way, a nomination feels like a win, so I’m going to celebrate. :)
